My Job

CARFAX

What we do

Carfax produces vehicle history reports for dealers and customers via the Internet.  We compile data from many sources and present it to the requester in hopes of protecting both dealer and consumer from hidden problems with vehicles.  In other words, we're the people who tell you the stuff that unethical people might not want you to know.

What I do

I'm part of Infrastructure.  Infrastructure makes sure the site is available and performing well.  We also take care of all the internal systems.

Personally, I work with our code management software, our credit card software, and our internal networking and security.

How do I like it?

This place is a blast!  The folks in my department are hilarious, but know how to buckle down and be serious professionals come crunch time.

If there's a position open here, and you're in this field, then you should consider the position seriously.  You'll be well-treated, and you'll be working for the good guys.  Knowing that we actually help people makes this job a lot of fun.  Any time I've been out and asked where I work, when I say, "Carfax," invariably, someone has a story to tell me about how our company saved them from a bad deal.  And I've never heard a BAD story about us.  It's pretty impressive, really.  And even though such things aren't the main thing I focus on in my particular job, it's an incredibly great feeling.
