Brad Morton
Shooting Guard
Offense
Brad is a shooter, with medium range. He can
handle the ball very well for his size, and can slash the
lane to either his left or his right, preferring to go left
but finishing with the right hand. He also has a beautiful
fade-away-jumper/up-and-under move along the defensive left
side baseline, very reminiscent of Kevin McHale. But his
offensive weakness is his inability to pass the ball quickly
and effectively.
Defense
Brad is annoying, since he's got size and
quickness, and guard mentality in a forward's body. Expect
him to steal post passes, and block a few soft shots in low.
He is also capable of attacking the ball on the blind side,
and is very effective at it.
At his best...
...yes, that was an offensive explosion,
and his team is up big because of it.
At his worst...
...he'll hoist one up from 18 while two
people sit wide open under the basket.
How Joe would play him
I've never had good luck with Brad either on
my team or against me. On offense, I have to take into
account where he's at, and make sure to work the opposite
side of the court for fear of steals. I try to use a shot at
the top of the key to get him to come out and challenge me,
suckering him with a faked shot and then driving by him once
he leaves his feet.
On defense, pound him. Brad doesn't like
physical play. Get him upset, and he's not as good a player.
But be careful, because he can give as good as he can get.
And for goodness sakes, don't let him get hot from outside.
Challenge every shot.
