1.  What is Joe's favorite color?

Red.  Red was my favorite color as a kid, although I gave it up for blue and for black during my high school years.  Red wasn't "cool enough."  It wasn't until I got to know Skander that it was "cool" to like red.  Skander essentially gave me back my favorite color.

2.  What is Joe's favorite number?

10.  10 is the number I wore for basketball.  Granted, it's a pretty lame reason to like a number, but until 10 came along, I didn't really have a favorite number.

3.  What is Joe's favorite animal?

A cat.  No, not a polar bear.  Polar Bears are like blue and black - cats are like red;  if you even believe for a moment that polar bears are my favorite animal, you're not as close to me as you think you are.  I adore cats.  Small, domesticated house cats - not lions and tigers.  They're so graceful and elegant, and they're animals that you can actually pet.  They're not ferocious and distant.  They're loveable.

4.  What is Joe's favorite song?

"The Best Of Times" by Styx.  It was the second record I ever got, and I darn near wore it out.  I like slow songs, strong parts, big harmony, and songs with keyboards.  This was the first song that had them all.

5.  What is Joe's favorite sport?

Basketball.  It has been ever since I can remember.  I love the game.

6.  What is Joe's favorite sports team?

The Utah Jazz.  I love the way the team plays based on skill rather than athleticism.

7.  What is Joe's favorite kind of car?

A Camaro Z-28.  Bonus points if you said a 1984 Camaro Z-28 with T-Tops.  Best of all, I actually HAD my dream car.  I drove my dream car for *10* *years*.  Coolest car around.  I love the appearance of them, and T-Tops are, in my opinion, the coolest thing you can have on a sportscar.  Not a sunroof.  Not any accessories.  T-Tops.  I've never said it enough - thanks, Dad.  Of all the things you ever did for me, the Z-28 is the coolest.

8.  What is Joe's favorite Renaissance Festival Act?

Wild Mountain Thyme.  I'm a sucker for big harmonies, and no one did it better than Bill Massino, Kathleen Mullaly Massino, and Gordon Lyons.

9.  What is Joe's favorite Cruise Ship?

The S.S. Norway.  It's part of NCL's fleet.  It is such a cool ship because of all the things you could do on it, and because of the folks I met when I went on it.  I even fly a Norwegian flag on my computer in honor of it.

10.  What are the significance of these numbers:  2, 3, 10, 21, and 33 ?

They're the chosen basketball numbers of my favorite teammates and me:  2 - Skander Yalaoui, 3 - Rafael Oropesa, 10 - me, 21 - Jim Struglia, and 33 - Travis Acton.

11.  What is Joe's most proud accomplishment?

Making the basketball team my 9th grade year.  I worked hard to do that, and no one believed that I could.

12.  Who is Joe's favorite client from his days as a consultant?

Cannon and Blaylock.  Jack Blaylock was a wonderful person to work for, and Jim Wright was as nice a guy as I've ever met to serve as a point-of-contact.  They were always nice to me.  I felt like a part of the family.

13.  If Joe had a son, what would his name be?

Mark Bradley Vancil.  Mark is after Mark Vavak, my high-school best friend.  Bradley is after Brad(ley) Morton - my college-and-early-career best friend.

14.  What brand was Joe's favorite jacket?

ClubHouse.  It was a reversible jacket - black on one side, grey on the other.  I almost always wore it black side out.

15.  What was Joe's favorite class in grade school/high school?

Math.  Math was fun, understandable, and well-defined.  There was a right answer at the end - one that couldn't be argued.  College re-defined math, and not in a positive way, but the math from high school and grade school was great.

16.  Who was Joe's favorite teacher?

Mrs. Ruth Lorance, my third grade teacher.  Mrs. Lorance was one of the kindest people I ever met.  If my arm hurt from writing too hard (I grip my pencil really tightly), she was understanding enough to let me rest, knowing I'd finish my work.  She liked me, and I loved her for it.

17.  What is Joe's favorite piece of classical music?

Bizet's "Les Toreador."  Or as I say, "March of the Toreador."  You know it as the theme from "The Bad News Bears."

18.  Who is Joe's favorite keyboard player?

Geoffrey Downes, who played with the Buggles, Yes, and Asia.  He also did a project as "Geoffrey Downes and the New Dance Orchestra."  I like Downes's rhythmic style rather than using keyboards as a primary lead instrument.  I also thought it was cool that he had 21 keyboards onstage when he toured with Asia.

19.  What is Joe's favorite movie?

"Footloose."  A positive message about dancing, the balance between life and religion, and the love between parent and child.  Everything about the movie is a positive message - even the troubles.  Add to that a great soundtrack, and some great emotion behind the characters, and you've got me hooked in a flat second.

20.  Who would Joe say is his "best friend"?

Skander Yalaoui.  He's not my best friend, he's my "bestest" friend.  No, we're not close now, and that's a tragedy, especially because of all the reasons we're NOT close any more.  But come hell or high water, Skander's the closest to me if he chooses to be.

21.  Who is Joe's favorite character on Babylon 5?

Michael Garibaldi.  He understands loyalty and the importance of a best friend.  He's cautious, trusts his hunches rather than accepting the "simple" answers, and doesn't give up on things, especially when they're important.  He's not very trusting, and doesn't recognize a person just because they've been given power.  In a lot of ways - and in most of the ways that are important - Garibaldi is a lot like me.  And to me, that makes him very believable.

22.  Who is Joe's favorite character on Deep Space 9?

Odo - the shape-shifting security chief.  Again, another suspicious, untrusting character.  He has simple answers and sees things as very black-and-white.

23.  Who is Joe's favorite athlete?

Basketball player Bobby Jones, formerly with the Philadelphia 76ers, and before that, with the Denver Nuggets and (college) North Carolina TarHeels.  When a person can do everything defensively at a high level, and is a recognized good guy, a recognized quiet leader in the club house in doing things by example, a talented offensive player who sacrifices his own talents for those of teammates, that's the kind of person you should cheer for.  Add to it the fact he's a devoted Christian.  Add to that the fact that his birthday is the same as my dad's.  He's just cool.

24.  Who is Joe's favorite superhero?

Green Lantern - specifically the Hal Jordan - Green Lantern.  I thought his power was a cool one - a ring that could do pretty much anything.  The idea of having a ring like that just struck me as being cool.

25.  What is Joe's favorite series of computer games?

Wing Commander.  From Wing Commander 1, to Wing 2, to Wing 3, Armada, Academy, Wing 4, to Wing 5, I've loved the series.  Why?  Story line, believable characters, personalities to the wingmen.  Bonus points for knowing that my favorite ship is a Broadsword from Wing 2 and Academy and a Jrathek from Armada.  Extra bonus points for knowing that my favorite wingman is Paladin, with Hunter a close second.
