Abortion

This is probably one of the easiest topics for me to deal with, being an adopted kid.

I'm not pro-life.  I'm not pro-choice.  I'm against abortion.   Let's stop hiding behind labels and start saying what we think.

Why do we need a special law saying you can't kill unborn children?   Doesn't it stand to reason that if you shouldn't kill live children, you shouldn't kill unborns?

Unwanted pregnancies are inconenient.  So are taxes.   Convenience is not a guarantee in life.

So is abortion wrong in the case of rape?  Personally, I can understand why a woman who was raped would not want to carry the child of the rapist.   I don't have a problem with an abortion in that case.  Of course, I think the RAPIST should be held responsible for the abortion, if there were a law against it, since it was his actions that were the direct cause of the abortion.  (I'm not real forgiving of law breakers.)

Abortion as a form of birth control?  I'm against it.  I do not advocate the shirking of the consequences of your action.

Does prohibition of abortion need to be in the form of a law?  WHY?  Can we no longer see right from wrong, thereby having to resort to legal and illegal?  Lying is, in most cases, legal.  But it's wrong, and we shouldn't condone it.   That's the way I see abortion.

Let's get the focus off of legal and illegal and back on right and wrong.  When we do that, we'll see a stop to abortion clinic bombings - because they're wrong.  We'll see a stop to the harassing of people trying to get abortions - because it's wrong.   We'll see people stop getting abortions - because it's wrong.  Everybody wins, and no bombings, harrassing, and unneeded abortions trouble our lives.
